Areyou an existing band 5 Dietitian looking to develop/broaden your skills or anewly qualified band 5 Dietitian looking for a permanent post that will form anexcellent start to your career? If so wehave an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 permanent post within our acutehospital Dietetic team.

StudentDietitians approaching the end of their training are welcome to apply, tailoredemployment options are available that will allow new graduates to commence inpost as a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner until HCPC registration is received.

Youwill benefit from the support of a small, friendly team of 18 Dietitians,Dietetic Assistant Practitioners and administration staff.

Thispost will provide an excellent grounding in general Dietetics and anopportunity to gain an insight into various specialties across the Trust,including; Stroke, Diabetes, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Surgery, WeightManagement and Nutrition Support.

Main duties of the job

Youwill provide a service to adult inpatients and outpatients within BarnsleyHospital NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with the support of a dedicatedacute team. You will also have the opportunity to gain experience and trainingfrom specialist Dietitians and will receive shadowing experience in otherspecialist areas within the department.

Thepost holder will be provided with regular clinical supervision and extensiveCPD opportunities and excellent clerical support. The acute role will involve avariety of acute medical and surgical wards as well as an outpatient generalclinic at the hospital.

Thedepartment supports training to A, B and C placement dietetic students. Thepost holder will be expected to be involved in the clinical teaching andassessments of students on placement, and training will be provided.

Youshould be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with good time managementskills and a commitment to evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Eligible for registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Evidence of other post-registration education and training
• Membership of British Dietetic Association
• Appropriate membership to specialist dietetic interest group/s

Experience

• Able to demonstrate management of a patient caseload either as qualified Dietitian or a Student Dietitian
• Experience of working in a clinical setting
• Can communicate dietetic information in an understandable form to patients and carers on a one to one or group basis
• Able to work effectively as part of a Dietetic or clinical team
• Able to show commitment to professional and personal development
• Clinical supervisory skills course
• Experience of training student dietitians
• Acute ward work in a hospital setting

Knowledge and Awareness

• Able to assess and treat patients requiring dietetic intervention using a recognised format e.g. ABCDE/SOAP
• Able to independently monitor and adapt dietetic treatment as appropriate
• Able to asses and implement a plan for patients requiring enteral nutrition
• Able to demonstrate evidence of mandatory training such as GDPR, information governance, fire safety, confidentiality
• Able to use knowledge base to inform clinical decision making
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Internet
