Company Description

MGallery Nairobi Gigiri will feature 105 rooms and suites; four restaurants, including an all-day dining venue, a signature dining experience, a pool bar, and a rooftop restaurant and bar; meeting rooms and a business centre; and wellness facilities spanning a gym, pool and spa.

With a prime location on Gigiri’s Limuru Road, fairly close to Nairobi’s city centre and Village Market, it will attract UN and NGO delegates, consultants and contractors, as well as diplomats, leisure visitors and the local community.

Job Description

  1. Read daily events, to acknowledge any VIP’s arrivals.
  2. Must know all menu items, their garnishes, contents and preparation methods and be able to relay that information to guests in a polite and concise way if asked.
  3. Present children's menus when appropriate, and describe specials and alternative cuisine.
  4. Serve and clear food and beverage items in an unobtrusive and professional manner.
  5. Utilize the POS system to ring up sales, print checks, close checks and complete cash-out procedures.
  6. Carry trays, bus and reset tables with linen, china, glass and silver.
  7. Ascertain guests’ satisfaction and handle any problem which may arise, informing a manager of the problem and how it was resolved.
  8. Follow cash and credit card procedures according to the guidelines of the accounting department.
  9. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly restaurant throughout service.
  10. Polish silver, refill salt, pepper and sugar, creamers, etc.
  11. Ensure that work station is stocked with appropriate condiments at all times.
  12. Report any guest comments regarding food and beverage to manager.
  13. Conscientious handling and maintenance of operating equipment.
  14. Learn and adhere to safety, sanitation and hygiene policies.
  15. Maintain good working relationships with colleagues, and all other departments.
  16. Maintain complete knowledge of all F&B services, outlets and hotel services / features.
  17. Perform opening / closing side duties as assigned and set all tables according to standards.
  18. Report to manager any kinds of deviation from set standard and procedures.
  19. Ensure that all service and storage areas are kept safe and clean.
  20. Help minimize waste, neglect, breakages and mishandling of supplies and equipment.
  21. Carry out light cleaning and maintenance of the outlet.
  22. Assist other Food & Beverage Outlets in their operations during peak hours if needed.
  23. Observe Recycling Procedures of the Hotel in Relation to cans and bottles.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 1-year food and beverage serving experience.
  2. Previous public contact and / or cashiering experience.
  3. Very good reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  4. Must be well presented and professionally groomed at all times.
  5. Able to account and handle cash effectively and efficiently.
  6. Good communication and customer contact skills; good problem resolution skills.
  7. Basic F&B product knowledge.
  8. Team player with strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
