Job Overview

The Vice President of Medical Strategy and Head of the Hematology/Oncology Center of Excellence (COE) provides strategic medical and scientific leadership, expertise, and subject matter knowledge to IQVIA and its clients in Hematology and Oncology. The role aims to expand IQVIA's market share in these fields. Responsibilities include leading a team of hematologists and oncologists, engaging potential customers early, developing proposals in response to RFPs, participating in client bid defense meetings, serving as a subject matter expert throughout the research and development lifecycle, and collaborating across the organization to leverage resources. Participation in thought leadership activities is highly encouraged. The role may oversee up to 10 direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction of the Hematology and Oncology Center of Excellence.
  • Oversee strategic proposal development with other functional leaders.
  • Act as a consultant to team members during research and development and clinical trials.
  • Review business plans for the COE to ensure sustainable growth and provide recommendations.

Requirements

  • A medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited, internationally recognized medical school with subspecialty training in hematology or oncology.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrable experience and expertise in the relevant therapeutic area within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years outside of training in the biopharmaceutical industry, with CRO experience preferred.
  • Advanced business knowledge, general management, and leadership skills to lead teams.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, managers, and clients.
  • Excellent consultation and advisory skills, with initiative and flexibility.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% nationally and internationally, including same-day or overnight trips.
