Aga Khan Education Service, India (AKESI) is proud to continue building on a century of leadership in education development. Since the establishment of the first Aga Khan School in Mundra in 1905, AKESI has worked towards enriching the lives of pupils through quality education services and a pluralist philosophy. Today, AKESI manages eight schools, one residential hostel and nineteen Aga Khan Pre-Schools, in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana, catering to approximately 9000 students, from Nursery to Grade 12 across urban and rural regions.

AKES schools in India offer State as well as National Curriculum syllabus and encourage STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) subjects, offering subjects including Robotics, Abacus, Vedic Maths, Painting, Music and Dance. Emphasis is placed on holistic child development through a balanced approach towards curricular and co-curricular activities.

Position: Vice-Principal

The Vice-Principal is the second Head of the school and will be the officiating Principal in the absence of the Principal. The Vice-Principal will directly report to the Principal on a day-to-day basis and will apprise the Principal on all routine important matters, which shall include the following:

  • Performance of a teacher in a particular section, collectively or individually.
  • Performance of students, collectively or individually, in the classroom or in examinations.
  • Record of attendance of teachers.
  • Problems of teachers or students and possible solutions to them.
  • Extracurricular and co-curricular activities to be organized in the near future.

The duties and responsibilities of the Vice Principal are:

  • To act as a coordinator between the Principal and the school staff.
  • To assist the Principal in school administration.
  • To take the necessary teaching load as instructed by the Principal (maximum 16 periods).
  • To plan and organize staff meetings and be responsible for writing minutes of all staff meetings.
  • To monitor the activities of the administration wing and ensure that up-to-date records of the school are maintained through an efficient filing system.
  • To look after the examination procedures in the school and guide the examination committee in preparing examination timetables, arrangements, duty allocations, and schedules associated with the administration of the examination.
  • To make alternative arrangements in the absence of a teacher.
  • To assist the staff in arriving at objective and meaningful solutions to difficulties faced by both staff and students and to facilitate the resolution of interpersonal problems.
  • To organize Open Day and Parents–Teachers meetings.
  • To get involved and assist teachers in the organization of co-curricular and extracurricular activities of the school.
  • To attend relevant meetings of the Education Department as and when required by the Principal.
  • To work as a conveyer of the various school committees.
  • To make periodic inspections of students’ classwork and homework notebooks.
  • To assist the Principal in planning Teacher Training Programs and coordinate the same.
  • To carry out any other work related to the school that may be assigned to him/her by the Principal.
