About The Role

Reporting to the President & Managing Director for Western Europe & Africa and the Head of HBO Max Original Programming (based in the US), the VP Local Original Production will be responsible for the development and oversight of HBO MAX’s local productions in France.

Key Responsibilities :

Being the public face of the HBO Max Original Production team to the creative and production communities in France whilst building and leading a small team of talented creative and production staff

In collaboration with the Head of HBO Max Original Programming and other Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) stakeholders, developing and delivering the original production strategy for France

Development

Overseeing the development of scripted and unscripted projects to ensure a consistent flow of first class, fully developed, HBO Max appropriate material for potential production. Duties to include :

Identifying potential formats, books, original series and miniseries

Working with regional and local Business and Legal Affairs to secure rights

Shepherding these projects through the whole development process (research, outlines, treatments, scripting)

Working with external producers to attach other creative elements e.g. directors, leading talent

Overseeing the preparation of production plans and budgets for potential future projects

Recommending suitable projects for production

Collaborating with WBD and HBO Max staff across multiple regions and functions

Production

Overseeing the production and delivery of world-class scripted and unscripted projects suitable for release on HBO Max :

Recommending appropriate producers and production companies for any projects developed internally

Representing WBD’s creative, financial, and operational interests on all productions

Exercising WBD’s contractual approvals as needed

At all times collaborating with the WBD and HBO Max staff across regions and functions

Programme Planning and Marketing

Collaborating with the HBO Max and WBD departments locally and regionally that schedule and promote HBO Max original programming (premieres, local marketing campaigns, publicity)

Management / Corporate

Working closely with local WBD management and the Head of HBO Max Original Programming based in the USA, and regional departments to prepare annual Original Production budgets and plans, recruit and monitor staff and all administrative responsibilities usually associated with running a busy development and commissioning department

Your Experience :

French native speaker with fluent written and spoken English

Established in the French screen fiction community (TV drama or feature film or preferably, both)

Proven success developing, producing, executive producing or commissioning TV fiction programming for distribution channels in France and internationally

Experience in unscripted programming is also desirable

Proven taste in choosing material and creative elements

Ability to attract top French creative talent (writers, producers, directors etc.)

Team player who will cooperate successfully with others both internally and externally
