Job Description:

MaiaSpace is a European space tech company, designing, manufacturing, and operating competitive and sustainable solutions for space mobility. We believe access to space is key to a better and more sustainable life on Earth, addressing challenges like climate, resources, connectivity, and data. Our goal is to design and test a cost-effective, reusable mini-launch vehicle by 2026.

Within MaiaSpace's development teams, you will join the team responsible for elaborating and optimizing trajectories for our launch vehicle in 3DOF and 6DOF, defining GNC algorithms, and analyzing environmental loads along the trajectory. You will lead the design, testing, and AIT of fairing and interstage products. Your role involves leading transient phase solutions design and simulation, making trade-offs, and participating in system design activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Studying transient phases for lift-off, deployment, and landing of the first stage, including:
  • Developing and testing in-house models or simulators.
  • Defining specific models and running simulations using commercial software.
  • Conducting trade-off studies and participating in technical solution definitions.
  • Synthesizing specifications for relevant products.

2. Defining validation and qualification objectives for models in collaboration with other teams and system architects.

3. Coordinating with test engineers to conduct simulation campaigns for testing, development, qualification, and operation of the launcher during transient phases and flight.

4. Participating in hardware demonstration test campaigns in collaboration with production teams.

5. Overseeing subcontracted work, including scope definition, contract management, and acceptance.

6. Contributing to the overall launch system definition and system synthesis.

Specific skills and abilities include proficiency in transient simulation software (e.g., ADAMS, COMSOL), programming languages (Python, Java, XML), good English skills, team spirit, pragmatism, rigor, and precision.

Qualifications required:

  • Generalist engineer with aerospace specialization preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in aerospace, focusing on transient phases or mechanical design.

Working at MaiaSpace:

You will join a friendly, multi-disciplinary team following Agile and Scrum methodologies. Your role may evolve over time with varied assignments. Work is hands-on and close to the final product. Our culture emphasizes openness, transparency, pragmatism, results, and people-centric values such as respect, humility, reactivity, and autonomy. Our office is located in La Défense, within Europe’s largest business district. Communication is in French and English.
