Systems Engineer

Description

Leidos is looking for an Enterprise System Engineer to maintain a strong awareness of technical trends in information technology, develop and maintain a strong awareness of ongoing IT projects, and business unit requirements. The candidate should be able to apply the project management model (e.g. Agile) selected for a given development effort and provide analysis, design, development, deployment, and lifecycle support for innovative hardware systems and applications. Work involves developing end-to-end cost analysis for projects, ensuring systems being developed comply with the enterprise technical architecture, helping project and program teams prepare for CIO Project Management Program control gates, and keeping senior management apprised of project or program status.

The candidate needs a strong understanding of data structures, network protocols, authentication mechanisms, hierarchical data organization, database management, security principles, and specific directory service protocols like LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), while also considering the niche or specific use cases for directory service, such as user management, resource access control, and efficient search functionalities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops block diagrams and logic flow charts, translating detailed design into computer software.
• Tests, debugs, and refines the computer software to produce the required product.
• Prepares required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation.
• Enhances software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency.
• Provides technical direction to programmers to ensure program deadlines are met.
• Applies business process improvement practices to re-engineer methodologies and principles and business process modernization projects.
• Applies, as appropriate, activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk analysis, and modern business methods and performance measurement techniques.
• Assists in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
• Develops and applies organization-wide information models for use in designing and building integrated, shared software and database management systems.
• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
• Provides staff and users with assistance solving computer-related problems, such as malfunctions and program issues.
• Tests, maintains, and monitors computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems.
• Uses object-oriented programming languages, as well as client/server applications development processes and multimedia and Internet technology.
• Confers with clients regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs a computer program is to address.
• Coordinates and links the computer systems within an organization to increase compatibility and ensure information can be shared.
• Consults with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
• Expands or modifies systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow.
• Analyzes and studies complex system requirements.
• Designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation.
• Manages software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
• Estimates software development costs and schedules. Reviews existing programs and assists in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improving current techniques. Supervises software configuration management.
• Applies the concept of operations set of disciplines for the planning, analysis, design, and construction of information systems across a major sector of the organization.
• Develops analytical and computational techniques and methodologies for problem solutions.
• Performs strategic systems planning, business information planning, and business analysis.
• Provides technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.
• Analyzes functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities.
• Designs, configures, and maintains the Information Technology Infrastructure associated with the cloud environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Database user interface and query software — Database software; Microsoft Access
• MS Office Suite
• Markup language – HTML
• Experience with Metric Tools
• Must have experience with the Cloud / Amazon Web Services
• Experience with CLSE
• Must have experience with IdAM / ICAM delivery systems, Authentication, Authorization, Attributes, Entitlement Management, and Digital Policy Management
• Must have experience with the security accreditation process

Pay Range:

Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
