SYSTEM ENGINEER

REMOTE & AUTONOMOUS DRIVING (F/M/X)

Join our team in the Innovation Center in Villeurbanne developing solutions on Autonomous Train. We are searching for a talented System Engineer for our Remote & Autonomous Driving program within a lean startup pathway and in collaboration with engineering, software & mobility experts in an international context.

YOUR MISSION

As a System Engineer, you will join a multidisciplinary, young and motivated team that develops our Remote & Autonomous Driving solution.

In this role, you will first analyze the input needs (external or internal) and requirements, and design the solution by re-using or adapting solutions under development. Second, you will formalize and maintain the system specifications (operational, functional, and constructional), application rules, and support processes descriptions and their associated verification, validation, and assessments by preparing, coordinating, and participating in the test and commissioning activities in the lab and on site during project execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • For the system design and specification and in collaboration with the System Architect and under the control of the Program Manager and/or Project Manager:
    • Analyze, clarify and confirm input requirements and needs
    • Maintain the system specification (OCD, RS, AD, ID, PD) according to applicable templates content
    • Perform conceptual design by preparing system models, design studies, design principles and interfaces, modelling & mock-ups, etc. for technical de-risking and optimization
    • Provide technical support to RAM, safety, cybersecurity, sub-system, software, hardware, and V&V teams to ensure consistency of design concepts and definitions, and participate in technical reviews
  • For the test and commissioning activities:
    • Prepare and execute testing activities according to the testing procedure/documentation
    • Ensure defects identification and correction (trouble shooting)
    • Ensure follow-up of detected issues and deliver the commissioning reports
    • Support V&V team and perform tests in the lab as per request
    • Deliver the committed performance in terms of Quality, Costs, and Deadlines and in compliance with Alstom policies, local standards, and regulations (in particular EHS and Railway Safety)
  • Keep informed of the evolution of technologies through technological watch
  • Promote the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct

COMPETENCIES

  • Engineering or master’s degree with significant proven experience in hardware development and/or software development and/or in system Validation & Verification
  • Experience in System Engineering (Architecture & Interfaces). Experience in the railway industry would be a plus
  • Flexible and ready to travel for short (few days) or longer missions (couple of weeks) in different locations and countries
  • Rigorous, team player and focused on customer satisfaction
  • Able to communicate in an open and clear manner with various stakeholders
  • Ability to use new technologies and tools

OTHER

  • Need to have a driving license
  • Fluent in both French and English. German would be a plus
