Sustainability Internship - Astorg (Paris) - Jan 2027
Application Deadline: 17 October 2026
Department: ESG
Employment Type: Internship
Location: Paris
Reporting To: Partner, Head of Sustainability
Description
Astorg is one of Europe’s top private equity firms, with €23bn in assets under management and offices in Paris, London, New York, Milan, Frankfurt and Luxembourg. The firm deploys capital across Europe and the US within the healthcare, software, business services and industrials sectors. Since 2018, Astorg is considered as having a best-in-class approach on sustainability and responsible investment. In 2021 Astorg announced that all its future funds will be Article 8 funds under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (promoting environmental and social characteristics of their investments).
Since 2021, Astorg has set science-based targets to reduce its emissions and the ones of its portfolio (“SBT” initiative).
You will contribute to Astorg’s sustainability programme which covers a wide range of challenging sustainability-related projects at company and portfolio company level, including circular economy, climate action, diversity & inclusion.
The way the team works is also changing. A meaningful part of this internship is to help design, test and embed AI-assisted ways of working into the sustainability team’s day-to-day - so alongside sustainability substance, we are looking for someone who is genuinely comfortable using AI tools to get real work done.
Practical information
Duration: 6 months
Start date: January 2027
Compensation: In line with market standards
Location: 29b-31 avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie, 75116 Paris, France
Convention de stage obligatoire / Internship agreement obligatory
Day-to-day responsibilities
At Astorg, you will support the sustainability team in
- Annual Data Collection Campaign for portfolio companies:
- ensuring data quality,
- assisting in data consolidation,
- using AI tools to accelerate extraction, quality checks and follow-up with portfolio companies.
- Portfolio monitoring:
- Taking notes during sustainability catch-up with portfolio companies
- Engaging with portfolio companies via sustainability programme website and meetings
- Preparing reporting on portfolio companies for investment teams and regulatory purposes
- Communications and reporting:
- Elaborating our 2026/2027 sustainability report
- Preparing fundraising material on sustainability for potential investors
- Organising the annual sustainability events for portfolio companies who are part of our Sustainability Community
- Making research on sustainability trends, guidelines and policies in a fast-evolving environment
- AI and automation - one flagship build, defined with the team in your first weeks. It could be something such as:
- a document-parsing assistant that extracts structured sustainability data from portfolio companies’ policies, audits and sustainability reports;
- a regulatory reporting assistant that drafts, cross-checks and chases the right data points across the portfolio;
- an internal sustainability copilot answering questions over Astorg’s own documents and portfolio data;
- or a different idea altogether - these are illustrations rather than a closed list, and the brief will follow the team’s priorities at the time.
Whichever it is, the target outcome is the same: something that actually gets used - a working tool, validated with at least one real user, and documented so that it survives beyond your internship.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Profile requirements:
We are looking for a candidate:
- Attending a Top Tier University, SciencesPo or Grande Ecole de Commerce who would like to take a very practical approach to Sustainability in Private Equity
- Having initial experience in the finance industry and a strong interest in sustainable development issues
- Comfortable with AI tools and curious about applying them to real work – we expect you to arrive with your own habits and ideas, not to be taught from scratch.
- Enjoying working in a diverse and international environment
Competencies
- Fluency in English and French required, other European languages considered a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Demonstrated use of AI tools to produce real output – for example an LLM-assisted analysis, an automated workflow (Copilot, n8n, Make, Power Automate or similar), or a custom GPT / agent. A school or personal project counts. Python or SQL are a strong plus, but not a prerequisite.
- Judgement on where AI helps and where it does not – including the reflex to verify an AI output before it leaves your desk.
- Writing, communication and synthesis skills
- Analytical skills
- Rigor and strong organisational skills
- Flexibility to quickly transition between projects and priorities
Cultural fit
- Entrepreneurship: we make things happen
- Fairness: we aim to be fair in everything we do
- Humility: we believe in the power of listening
- Substance: we focus on what matters
What we provide
- Enterprise access to sanctioned AI tooling, so that you can build on real internal data within Astorg’s data-security perimeter.
- A real mandate rather than a vague one: your flagship project is scoped with the team and has identified internal users from the start.
- Direct exposure to senior stakeholders, including partners, and to sustainability strategy across healthcare, software, business services and industrials.
- A concrete portfolio piece: a tool or workflow in real use that you can point to on your CV.
Diversity:
- Astorg is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome diverse profiles in terms of gender, background, and nationality.
Other benefits:
- Lunch vouchers
- 50% pass Navigo support
