Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Party Chief in Oil & Gas or construction projects/sites.
  • Valid Vehicle Operator’s License and clean driving record.

Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Geomatics team has several immediate full-time opportunities for the role of Survey Technologist in Northern Alberta. Our team provides surveying and mapping services, defining land boundaries and analyzing spatial data. Join professionals who continually find inventive ways to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety, complying with Stantec and client safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements.
  • Perform oilsands surveys and buried facility locating with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct topographic, legal, bathymetric, earthworks, civil construction, and as-built surveys.
  • Plan blast drill hole positions, shovel digging lines, ramp gradients, and berm designs.
  • Conduct 3D laser scanning and aerial drone surveys of mine sites.
  • Share survey data with engineering, QA/QC, and contract personnel.
  • Prepare sketches, maps, and reports describing survey work.
  • Manage and provide accurate survey data in accordance with Data Quality Management System.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar survey software is an asset.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Manager regarding progress, scope changes, and project impacts.
  • Assist with field training, crew supervision, or crew coordination on larger projects, depending on experience.
  • Perform routine survey functions related to mining advancement and other specialized projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Execute surveys accurately, safely, and efficiently.
  • Experience tracing buried facilities with Electromagnetic Locating techniques.
  • Proficiency with 3D laser scanners, GPS, drones, total stations, and electromagnetic locators.
  • Valid Vehicle Operator’s License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing, including drug, alcohol, fitness, audiometric, vision, criminal record, and driving screenings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Party Chief in Oil & Gas or construction projects/sites.
  • Degree or diploma in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to travel across Alberta and work out of town for extended periods.
