Description du poste

We are looking for a SURF UMBILICAL SPECIALIST (M/F) for one of our clients, based in Île-de-France, France, for a long-term project (1 to 3 years, potentially renewable).

Context & Environment

The activity takes place within the context of the FEED, Call For Tender, and Project Execution phases of a major very deep-water greenfield development in Namibia. A multidisciplinary internal project team coordinates development studies managed by the operator’s OneTech division, focusing on the deep-water discoveries offshore Namibia Block 2913B.

The key technical challenges include reservoir development and management, as well as defining the subsea production and injection systems in a highly challenging environment. The project aims to maximize economic outcomes by optimizing reserves and schedules, reducing costs and GHG emissions, while maintaining technical quality and adhering to strict H3SE requirements.

Responsibilities and Missions

The Service Holder will be responsible for all dynamic and static umbilical design activities, support for installation operations, and technical matters related to the project, as part of the internal project team.

This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing, approving, preparing, and managing all studies and documentation from contractors, suppliers, and sub-suppliers related to umbilicals during FEED, Call For Tender, and EPCI phases.

The project scope includes:

• Production System: 2 rings, 4 Steel Lazy Wave Risers (~25 km each), 6 wet insulated rigid flowlines (~71 km total), and 4 rigid spools in Carbon Steel and CRA-lined pipe, as well as 19 rigid jumpers made of Duplex material.
• Gas Injection System: 2 Steel Lazy Wave Risers (~12 km each), 2 rigid flowlines (~35 km each) in Carbon Steel and CRA-lined pipe, and 19 flexible well jumpers (~19 km total).
• Control System: 2 dynamic and 27 static umbilicals, 2 Subsea Distribution Units (SDU), 38 XTs, and associated flying leads.

The project involves a very deep-water oil greenfield development (>3000m water depth). The Service Holder will also support control system, flow assurance, risers, and flowlines design specialists, including interference issues and chemical flow assurance.

Additionally, the Service Holder will provide technical support to the SURF Technical Manager and team, coordinating with other project disciplines such as SPS, FPSO, and Field Operations.

Activities

1. Adopt and demonstrate exemplary behavior regarding H3SE & Q, ensuring all activities comply with standards and highlighting deviations. Ensure safe working practices throughout all project phases.
2. Follow company ethics and the “Code of Conduct,” promote anti-corruption policies.
3. Manage all FEED umbilicals engineering activities, monitor studies from vendors, prepare technical packages for EPCI tender, and review technical offers for fitness for purpose and compliance.
4. Support the development and maintenance of project management documents (SOR, FDP, PEP, PQP, risk registers, etc.).
5. Monitor and review progress of the contractor and suppliers, analyze deviations, and propose corrective actions.
6. Propose alternative designs considering project constraints, such as minimizing hook-up loads, avoiding clashes, and optimizing configurations.
7. Supervise detailed engineering review, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
8. Act as the technical point of contact with contractors on umbilical matters, follow up on equipment supplies.
9. Ensure technical compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including procurement, fabrication, testing, and installation.
10. Coordinate with other teams and participate in project reviews, offshore activities, and lessons learned sessions.

Profile & Skills Required

Qualifications & Experience:

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Proficient in English.

Professional Experience:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in large offshore oil & gas SURF projects, specifically in very deep-water environments.
• Proven expertise in umbilical design within EPCI projects, with a focus on dynamic umbilicals (mandatory).

Additional Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of standards (e.g., DNV), familiarity with company specifications and procedures.
• Experience working with major SURF contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Positive, proactive, and pragmatic attitude.
• Ability to collaborate within large, multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
