Location: Parisian Region, France
This opportunity supports brownfield offshore oil and gas projects covering FEED, detailed engineering, fabrication and offshore execution. The role sits within a SURF function working across multiple projects, with a strong focus on technical leadership, SURF engineering, contractor interface and delivery of fit-for-purpose solutions aligned with safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives. The position is based in the Parisian Region with travel to manufacturing sites, fabrication yards and vendor locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across ongoing and future brownfield SURF projects.
- Promote and uphold strong safety and quality culture across all activities.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with company specifications, applicable standards and relevant regulations.
- Identify technical risks early and support mitigation planning across project phases.
- Act as the focal point for technical matters and manage technical clarifications and derogations.
- Define and validate technical requirements for projects in execution and in FEED stage.
- Manage the SURF engineering team to review and validate contractor and engineering documentation in a timely manner.
- Support the delivery of technical queries, derogation requests and engineering documentation in line with project requirements.
- Maintain close coordination with project stakeholders on progress, technical decisions and key actions.
- Liaise with headquarters and project teams on SURF engineering topics for future projects under FEED and CFT phases.
- Anticipate technical issues that could drive change orders or delays and help develop practical solutions.
- Define and manage third-party technical review activities and specialist studies where required.
- Prepare, coordinate and support internal reviews, project reviews, HAZID and HAZOP sessions when required.
- Support installation teams with technical input and optimisation of offshore work preparation.
- Assess the technical impact of change orders across engineering, procurement and fabrication scopes.
- Organise, lead or contribute to technical meetings with contractors, engineering companies and other stakeholders.
- Interface with package leaders and quality teams to support readiness of fabrication and manufacturing phases.
- Participate in inspections and follow contractor supply and procurement activities as needed.
- Support fabrication sites in resolving technical issues related to welding, coating, NDT and structural disciplines.
- Ensure interfaces with related departments are progressed in line with the work plan.
- Assist offshore installation phases with technical support when required.
- Capture lessons learned, provide execution feedback and contribute to project close-out reporting.
Required Education & Certifications
- Engineering degree or equivalent (Required)
Required Experience
- 15 to 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry on offshore projects or fields.
- Approximately 10 years of experience in a similar position with strong SURF engineering exposure.
- Experience working across multiple projects at different stages within a brownfield project environment.
- Experience covering FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and offshore installation support.
