POSITION SUMMARY :

The Superintendent, HVAC proactively manages and develops marine HVAC technology, ensuring that all related systems and areas of the Company's new builds conform to design criteria and operational requirements throughout the ship's lifecycle. The role involves providing input to technical and new building projects, delivering HVAC development work with consultancies, classification societies, and authorities, and collaborating closely with shipyards, RCL operations, and internal sources. The Superintendent also manages, coordinates, and updates guidelines and ship specifications with internal and external partners, approves drawings and standards for new builds, and attends inspections, FATs, quay and sea trials related to HVAC systems and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Organize proactive development of new technology with manufacturers, system designers, and marine operations.
  2. Establish studies and recommendations for equipment and design solutions for the project portfolio.
  3. Coordinate and update guidelines for HVAC technology.
  4. Participate in risk assessments and feasibility studies.
  5. Apply relevant rules and regulations in the development of cruise ship HVAC design and construction, including new technology evaluation and implementation.
  6. Organize and report on design and development processes related to HVAC technologies.
  7. Develop optimized life cycle costs (LCC) procedures.
  8. Participate in inspections and FATs during ship construction, including quay and sea trials.
  9. Contribute to new build drawings, maker, and design approval processes.
  10. Prepare and update vessel specifications in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  11. Ensure innovations and lessons learned from the existing fleet are incorporated into future projects.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on project scope.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Extensive experience with marine HVAC and related technologies, especially in specialized areas.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Relevant education, M.Sc. or B.Sc. in HVAC or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of engineering science and technology application in design and production.
  • In-depth understanding of SOLAS, IMO, and other relevant regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills; additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with suppliers, partners, and remote colleagues.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Leadership skills in team and network management.
  • Computer literacy relevant to the role.
  • Ability to work under tight schedules and in multicultural environments; willingness to travel.
