Job summary

Parkhill, a leading engineering firm in the Southwest, seeks a Civil Engineering Student to support aviation-focused projects in the Lubbock area. Under close supervision, you will assist engineers with routine tasks, prepare drawings, study materials, and permit applications, gaining exposure to early project stages.

This part-time, non-exempt position is paid hourly and offers hands-on experience in construction services, quantity takeoffs, basic design calculations, and field data collection

Qualifications

• Student status in Civil Engineering or related discipline at an accredited college.
• Willingness to perform routine engineering support tasks.
• Capable of assisting with field data collection and basic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Assists with construction phase services as directed by project engineer.
• Assists with checking engineering calculations.
• Assists with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and basic design calculations.
• Assists in preparing marketing proposals.
• Assists in collecting field data and test samples.
• Assists in maintaining the technical library.
• Performs routine filing and delivery of documents.
• Proficient in the use of computers, computer aided design and other relevant software and hardware tools.

Overview

Under close supervision, performs routine tasks requiring knowledge of fundamental engineering, mathematical and construction concepts. Provides support to engineers, CADD supervisor, or project team in the preparation of graphic materials, design sketches, study materials and permit applications. This is a part-time, non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis.
