Job Description:

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The European Space Agency’s Strategic Foresight & Planning Office supports the definition of the ESA-wide strategy and is responsible for:

• Organising and ensuring the availability of futures intelligence, examining the internal and external factors that may impact ESA;
• Developing strategic foresight capacity adapted to ESA and the space sector;
• Deploying, implementing, and delivering strategic foresight projects to identify the implications of different possible futures for ESA’s strategy, programmes, and policies, helping ESA identify blind spots, and building resilience at both programme and Agency levels;
• Supporting the development of ESA’s strategic plans by identifying strategic challenges and opportunities, and developing relevant goals and objectives aligned with mid- and long-term priorities at the Agency and directorate levels;
• Building and maintaining Strategic Foresight networks.

Responsibilities within the Strategy Department

• Supporting the development of futures intelligence
• Contributing to the development and deployment of strategic foresight & planning projects
• Facilitating internal and external foresight networks
• Contributing to material consolidation and reporting

Skills & Experience

Qualifications and relevant experience include:

• Master’s degree in business/public administration or a relevant discipline
• Familiarity with relevant methods and tools in the domain of competence
• Ability to keep abreast of market trends and maintain ethical standards of confidentiality, loyalty, and impartiality to foster objective relationships with customers and suppliers
• Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage
