bsport is hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to shape our product's technical direction across Barcelona and Paris teams. You will tackle scalable distributed systems, own cross-team problems from framing to delivery, and mentor engineers while driving architecture and observability improvements.

You will work with Python, Django, PostgreSQL, AWS and related tooling, helping us scale, while embracing AI-enabled engineering workflows with pragmatism and ownership.

Formación

• Extensive backend experience with Python; Django is a plus.
• Designing and evolving distributed systems at scale for millions of users.
• Able to challenge decisions across the stack from data modeling to infrastructure.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams without formal authority.
• Understand architecture, domain boundaries, data ownership, and interfaces.
• Ownership of ambiguous problems and contribution to product and design decisions.
• Mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar.
• Proficient in English.
• Willing to have company-wide technical impact as we scale.
• Excited about AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Responsabilidades

• Drive technical strategy and architecture within your team and the wider engineering org, designing scalable services and distributed systems.
• Own cross-team technical problems from framing through implementation, balancing trade-offs across data, APIs, networking and infra.
• Set architectural direction, patterns, standards and best practices for multiple teams.
• Balance short-term needs with long-term technical sustainability and reliability.
• Raise engineering quality through reviews, design discussions, and hands-on contributions.
• Lead through influence, aligning Backend, Data, Product, DevOps and leadership.
• Mentor engineers, grow technical leadership, and foster ownership and learning.
• Improve system reliability and observability, identifying systemic issues and improvements.
• Contribute to the evolution of our stack with Python, Django, PostgreSQL, AWS and modern tooling.
• Stay hands-on with production code and tackle the most technically challenging parts.
• Help bsport become AI-native and explore AI-enabled workflows responsibly.
