Position Overview: About The Role
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing Product Development team to develop outerwear, ready-to-wear, and accessories categories, ensuring each piece reflects luxury craftsmanship, global fit, consistency, quality, and functionality.
- Lead the PD team to be co-creation partners in translating creative vision into executable products while honoring luxury design intent, business category needs, construction integrity, and functionality.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and creativity, encouraging curiosity and continuous learning.
- Promote a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement across the team, integrating learnings from hindsight and market research.
- Partner with leadership to assess team structure and bandwidth, align resources to project needs, and ensure workload balance across the team.
- Provide clear guidance and support to the team on category-specific nuances while maintaining consistency in and global standards.
- Serve as the go-to leader for escalations, helping the team navigate development challenges with clarity, diplomacy, and urgency.
- Drive alignment across Design, Merchandising, and Sourcing to ensure seasonal goals and deliverables are met, using strong communication and problem-solving skills to navigate cross-functional dynamics.
- Lead the PD team in partnering with Global Fit, Technical teams, QA, and Vendors to develop and enforce global fit standards, including standardized fit blocks, specs, and grading that reflect the brand's luxury positioning and deliver a consistent fit globally.
- Foster relationships and partner with global vendors to support refinement of fit, silhouette, and craftsmanship standards for prototypes and samples.
- Ensure technical feasibility, material readiness, and capacity are aligned to execute seasonal prototypes.
- Ensure tech packs and fit comments are delivered with precision and clarity, supporting flawless execution by internal teams and vendors.
- Drive proactive collaboration with Design, Materials Development, and Sourcing to ensure raw materials are suitable for luxury-level prototypes.
- Lead calendar adherence for the PD team through tracking, anticipating obstacles, and working cross-functionally to adjust and problem-solve without sacrificing quality or fit consistency.
- Participate in product calendar creation; manage timelines and proactively adjust resources or priorities to meet critical milestones.
- In partnership with Sourcing, lead the development of product costing options that support margin goals while maintaining luxury product integrity and design intent.
- In partnership with the Fit team, be accountable for the fit process, including overseeing fit schedule fittings and follow-up, as well as maintaining consistency in fit comments across the PD team.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners to identify and resolve fit and construction challenges early in the development process, ensuring alignment on fit intent and technical standards.
- Maintain deep awareness of emerging trends, technologies, and construction techniques relevant to the luxury market, championing innovation across categories.
- Advocate and lead efforts to improve development processes and tools.
- Represent the Product Development function in cross-functional meetings, escalating issues and providing solutions to maintain luxury standards and meet calendar deadlines.
About You
- 12 years of experience in Product Development or related roles within a luxury brand.
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Product Development, or a related field; advanced education or luxury brand training is a plus.
- Proven experience in developing outerwear, apparel, and accessories across global luxury markets.
- Strong experience managing, mentoring, and growing high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
- Deep understanding of luxury construction standards, materials, and client expectations.
- Expertise in PLM systems and tech pack creation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience with 3D systems such as Clo is an advantage.
- Knowledge of global sourcing and manufacturing processes, especially in high-end production environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of global fit practices, construction, and spec development.
- Proven ability to balance creative vision with commercial goals.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence across departments.
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and adaptable to changing priorities.
