Position Overview
About The Role:
- Work with the Design Team to observe and own seasonal calendar, as it relates to the company calendar
- Responsible for researching designing a designated number of styles from concept to proto approval, managing up to the Creative Director
- Manage and execute special projects with the support of the Design Manager & Design Team
- Responsible for working closely with Merchandising partners to ensure all designs support the business objectives
- Entering all data required into PLM and updating as required for all styles determined by the Design Director
- Work closely with PDE partners to communicate designs, BOMs and updates/changes throughout the proto process.
- Be the independent Design voice in fittings on designated styles.
- Lead work with the Materials department to develop and adopt fabrics and trims for designated styles/collections
- Mentor and develop junior Design Team on technical aspects of outerwear creation
- Lead development mock-ups to support seasonal concept
- Travel to vendors and attend trade shows as needed to lead product research and development
- Collaborate with the Creative Director to create the seasonal color palette, owning a portion of the color direction development
- All other duties as assigned
About You- 6+ years of applicable working Design experience within an Apparel/ Outerwear Design role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer Skill; included proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign is essential
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives
- Expert level knowledge of Apparel/Outerwear product construction
- Expert knowledge of materials (fabrics and trims)
- Excellent presentation skills of both design and final presentation
- Demonstrates strong leadership and management skills
- Prior experience with Product Line Management (PLM) required
- Well organized and proficient in time management
- Extensive experience presenting Design and Concept to a cross-functional audience
- Extensive experience working in partnership with Merchandising and Product Development
- Anticipates market needs and how to prepare for them
- Able to research and conceptualize independently
- Has a critical eye on the market, runway and current trends
- Brings newness to the design process through exploratory thinking and executing
- Demonstrates creative ability that exceeds market expectations
- Ability to work as a team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion
