eXalt in Paris, France, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Space and Defence FSO Systems to design high-precision opto-mechanical hardware for space-qualified communications.

You will own subsystems from concept to manufacturing, integration and environmental testing, ensuring optical alignment, launch survivability and long-term reliability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across optics, thermal and electronics.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
• Space hardware experience essential, including vacuum, thermal cycling, and launch-load considerations.
• Proven ability to take hardware from CAD through fabrication, assembly, integration and testing in a demanding environment.
• Strong command of mechanical drawings and GD&T; experience with space-qualified processes.

Responsabilités

• Design precision mechanisms and motion stages, including encoders and cable management.
• Design opto-mechanical structures like optical benches and mounts from concept to fabrication drawings.
• Define thermal architecture and perform thermal modelling for optical instruments.
• Conduct or oversee structural and thermo-elastic analyses (FEA) and correlate test results.
• Support environmental tests and qualification documentation; liaise with cross-functional teams.
