Job Description:

About the job

At Scaleway, we provide a wide range of products to our customers, including dedicated servers, virtual and bare metal cloud servers, storage solutions, and more. The Hardware Engineering department is central to our infrastructure, offering over 100,000 servers from our own data centers to customers and internal teams.

The Systems Development team develops in-house tools used during qualification phases, quality checks, and pre-production activities. Our mission is to create top-tier tools to automate deployments, enhance quality, and optimize hardware asset costs, thereby increasing operational performance.

Our software stack primarily runs on Python, and basic knowledge of functions, classes, and OOP is expected.

You will collaborate directly with data center staff, support teams, and product teams to optimize deployment workflows, improve data collection and DCIM integration, and develop software solutions for pre-production machines. We value innovative design that aligns with our objectives.

Given our small team and varied tasks, mutual assistance is essential. We seek highly motivated individuals eager to take on new challenges and explore different approaches.

Required profile

  • Fluent in Python
  • Interest in automation (Gitlab CI/CD, Ansible)
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
  • Experience with Object-Oriented Programming
  • Autonomous with a strong ownership spirit
  • Good command of English
  • Team player, thorough, quick learner
  • Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
  • Experience with REST API
  • Knowledge of network protocols such as DHCP, PXE, VLANs
  • Experience working with industry-grade hardware (e.g., servers with BMC)

It would be advantageous if you also have experience in:

  • Hardware certification/testing
  • Embedded system development
  • Open Source Firmware stacks (e.g., OpenBMC, u-boot) as a contributor or integrator

Our deployment team provides a solid foundation for various technologies and interfaces used by our product teams. You will serve as a versatile 'swiss army knife', performing diverse tasks.

In this role, you will be an architect, developer, and maintainer of a broad range of software and utilities.

As part of a long-established cloud and bare-metal provider, you will work with diverse hardware and many open-source utilities, never experiencing boredom—whether coding, researching workflow optimizations, or data management.
