In the Materials and Structural Analysis (MSD) Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, we provide innovative solutions for electron microscopy in scientific and industrial lab environments. A key component of those solutions is software.

The Position

The position of Software Engineer in the Athena Platform team is available in the Data and Artificial Intelligence (D&A) team that is part of MSD R&D, with colleagues across the USA, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and France. This role focuses on SAFe organization and synchronization of our Athena Imaging Data Management platform, primarily based in Bordeaux, France.

The Athena team is an energetic and enthusiastic group that is building an exceptional workflow management system, supporting customers in the semiconductor industry, life sciences, and material sciences to make new discoveries and create new devices daily.

The Athena Platform is divided into sub-teams with dedicated focuses: back-end, front-end, and system. The successful candidate will contribute to back-end milestones and planning.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to projects and daily teamwork
• Deliver assigned features through coding and testing
• Maintain and update code with high business value
• Review code written by team members
• Address priority bugs and critical customer issues
• Follow existing processes and suggest improvements

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate enjoys working in a multicultural, collaborative high-tech environment focused on data science and software development.

Requirements include:

• Academic background (MSc+) in software engineering or related field
• 5+ years experience in web-based software development
• Strong coding skills in software development; familiar with best practices and capable of performing various technical tasks with supervision
• Expertise in .Net, Kafka, MongoDB, RabbitMQ technologies
• Proactive in identifying and seeking approval for new tasks
• Good listening and note-taking skills; able to handle follow-up actions independently
• Strong technical expertise with the ability to share knowledge and teach others
