An internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization has an opening for a Shelter Monitor located in Paris, TX.
Answers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate destination; records accurate and complete messages when necessary; receives and receipts deliveries and donations; greets and announces visitors and clients; provides general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services; performs routine clerical work such as typing and filing.
Knowledge of: effective and efficient methods for organizing and maintaining records; general office procedures and practices; basic record keeping practices and procedures; proper cooking methods and procedures.
Ability to: communicate effectively with clients to control, lead, and motivate behavior; cultivate and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of people; work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies; present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Work is performed in a residential facility with little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and one-year prior experience performing security or social services work in a shelter or similar environment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid State Driver’s License (Preferred)
Food Handlers Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
CPR or First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Ability to meet attendance requirements; read, write and communicate the English language effectively; perform data entry into a computer; respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control; perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis; limited physical effort associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light to heavy objects (up to 30 lbs.) occasionally.
