Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior User Experience Designer creates easy and delightful experiences for users interacting with ANSYS products and services. The UX designer assesses functional and content requirements, develops storyboards, creates wireframes and task flows based on user needs, and produces visually detailed mockups conveying the desired look and feel. A passion for visual design and familiarity with UI trends and technologies are essential, enabling the UX designer to bring innovative ideas to projects. This is an advanced role, suited for individuals with demonstrated experience in usability problem-solving and design ideation, focusing on content production and communication. It leverages the UX professional’s experience, presentation, and communication skills to either develop expertise in a specific design area or collaborate on projects to improve functionality across the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and deliver the entire range of UX projects.
• Take projects from ideation to delivery, continuously improving functions, sometimes with little guidance.
• Review UX artifacts created by other team members.
• Utilize prototyping tools and UX toolkits.
• Create, review, and manage submissions to development code streams with high quality.
• Conduct usability studies.
• Estimate design and implementation workloads, optimizing processes.
• Communicate design rationale across disciplines and personnel.
• Record usability/UX problems with explanations and improvement recommendations.
• Share UX techniques, development processes, and tasks with team members.
• Build expertise in Ansys software knowledge and usage.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, development teams, and other designers across business units.
• Contribute to design and method patents in Ansys software.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• BS or BA in Human-Computer Interaction, Design Engineering, Industrial Design, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with 5 years’ experience, or MS with 3 years’ experience.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and CAD/CAE tools.
• Experience co-leading software development cycles from ideation to shipment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication with software development teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Certificate in HCI.
• Experience with modeling and simulation applications, UX design, collaboration tools, UI implementation tools, screen/video editing tools.
• Ability to iterate on designs, organize deliverables, communicate professionally, and prototype rapidly.
