Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior User Experience Designer creates easy and delightful experiences for users interacting with ANSYS products and services. The UX designer assesses the functional and content requirements of a product, develops storyboards, creates wireframes and task flows based on user needs, and produces visually detailed mockups that convey the desired look and feel for the product. A passion for visual design and familiarity with UI trends and technologies are essential, enabling the UX designer to bring fresh and innovative ideas to a project. This advanced role is suited for individuals with demonstrated experience in usability problem-solving and ideation in design, focusing on content production and communication. It leverages the UX professional’s experience, presentation, and communication skills to either build expertise in a specific area of design or collaborate on projects that improve functionality across the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Plan, design, and deliver the entire functional range of UX projects.
  2. Take projects from ideation to delivery, continuously improving functions, sometimes with little guidance.
  3. Review UX artifacts created by other team members.
  4. Utilize prototyping tools and UX toolkits.
  5. Create, review, and manage submissions to development code streams with high quality.
  6. Conduct usability studies and deliver findings.
  7. Plan and estimate design and implementation workloads, utilizing process accelerations and optimizations.
  8. Communicate design rationale across disciplines and personnel.
  9. Record usability/UX problems with clear explanations and recommendations for improvement.
  10. Share experience and expertise with team members in UX techniques and development processes.
  11. Build expertise in Ansys software knowledge and usage.
  12. Work closely with product managers, development teams, and other designers, sometimes across multiple business units.
  13. Contribute to design and methods patents implemented in Ansys software.

Minimum Education / Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS or BA in Human-Computer Interaction, Design Engineering, Industrial Design, or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with 5 years’ experience, or MS with 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and CAD/CAE tools.
  • Experience with design tools like Figma, Framer, Adobe XD, Sketch, etc.
  • Experience co-leading development cycles for software products from ideation to shipment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communication with software development teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Certificate in HCI.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation applications, UX design, collaboration tools, UI implementation technologies, screen-capture/video editing tools.
  • Ability to iterate on designs smoothly, organize deliverables, and communicate professionally via various channels.
  • Prototype rapidly using available tools.
