Vocca seeks a skilled backend engineer to architect and evolve its unified booking layer using TypeScript. You will lead integrations with medical practice software, including systems without APIs, and ensure speed and reliability for millions of monthly calls.

You’ll migrate Python services to TypeScript, own production-ready integrations, and drive compliance for US referrals (HIPAA, SOC2). Paris-based, 3+ days onsite, with strong design and fast execution culture.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building backend systems in production.
• Experience in startups or fast-growing companies.
• Strong TypeScript and Node skills, or strong backend experience in Go, Python, or Java with readiness to become strong in TypeScript.
• Experience integrating systems not controlled by you.
• Understanding of clean APIs vs real-world integrations.
• Strong system design and refactoring practices.
• Ability to identify risks in untested generated code.
• Ability to reduce scope, say no, and explain technical decisions concisely.
• TypeScript, Node, monorepo, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and SOAP APIs knowledge.
• Willingness to work at least 3 days per week in the Paris office.

Responsabilités

• Build the architecture of Vocca’s unified booking layer in TypeScript.
• Develop integrations with medical practice software, including systems without APIs.
• Improve speed and reliability for more than 1 million calls per month.
• Define how booking failures are detected within 24 hours and establish integration health standards.
• Own integrations from software vendor through production.
• Migrate remaining Python services to TypeScript.
• Write back into EHR, PMS, and RIS systems.
• Support compliance work for US integrations, including HIPAA and SOC2.
• Define engineering team practices, including reviews, documentation, and technical decisions.
• Collaborate daily with clinic deployment operations and support teams.
• Help build the integrations squad and hire at least one engineer.
• Participate in onboarding and ship an initial fix on a live integration.
• Participate in live coding and architecture discussions during the interview process.
