Summary

The Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in our customer model to deliver the BMS aspiration to be the BioPharma that engages Health Care Providers (HCPs) and drives adoption of medicines for appropriate patients. The TAS is responsible for driving demand for BMS medicines within their portfolio for appropriate patients, engaging HCPs with a differentiated customer experience through deeper scientific dialogue aligned with the label, and leveraging new ways of working. The TAS builds and maintains professional credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians/HCPs in private practice and medical groups as the primary point of contact. The TAS collaborates with other BMS functions to deliver a higher customer experience by meeting HCP needs in a timely and scientific manner, prioritizes safe and appropriate use of BMS products while aiming for strong business results and upholding BMS values. This role is field based and is anticipated to spend 100% of time in the field with external customers. Territory covers: Pittsburgh South, Johnstown, Altoona, Harrisburg.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Promotion

  • Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed sales targets in a compliant manner.
  • Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
  • Maintains high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas.
  • Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans.
  • Uses tools such as CE^3 (when implemented) to derive insights and inform call plans; provides feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.

Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue

  • Demonstrates scientific expertise and uses approved resources to present information to HCPs accurately.
  • Conducts in-office presentations and discusses product-related scientific information consistent with the label.
  • Organizes external speaker programs with approved speakers and coordinates scheduling and logistics.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge on emerging data for approved indications.
  • Engages real-time medical support to respond to unsolicited questions and complex inquiries.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborates with other field teams to ensure the best customer experience for HCPs.
  • Gathers and shares insights with stakeholders to better serve customers.
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and policies governing conduct of BMS.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Advanced scientific degree and/or preferred 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing.
  • Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately to help physicians serve patients.
  • Proven ability to build credibility with key customers and provide a differentiated customer experience.
  • Dermatology experience is preferred.
  • Strong account management and selling competencies with a track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with a positive, collaborative mindset.
  • Strong selling and promotional skills with a history of performance.

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $145,000 - $165,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). Final compensation is based on demonstrated experience. Benefits are listed on the BMS Careers site. Eligibility varies by job and location.

Compensation Overview

Field - United States - US: $136,000 - $164,800. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available. Final compensation is based on experience. Benefits vary by location and role; see the careers site for details.
