Title:
Senior Software Engineer

KBR is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. The candidate will leverage their extensive software engineering experience and skillsets to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to a US Government customer, supporting FFRDC, and other KBR members in a professional work environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management, and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications.
  2. Define system and software requirements and obtain customer approval.
  3. Analyze customer requirements and translate them into a design.
  4. Create prototypes.
  5. Implement Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teams.
  6. Identify potential roadblocks and develop software solutions where the solution is not always well defined.
  7. Work to improve performance metrics through critical planning and execution of development tasks.
  8. Respond to and resolve software discrepancies against documented requirements.
  9. Collaborate with a team to define software requirements.
  10. Generate program design language and code based on department standards.
  11. Design, develop, test, and deploy software systems for our customers.
  12. Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standards.
  13. Generate/update documents defining software product baselines.
  14. Explore new areas or programming languages to deliver a complete product.
  15. Support on-site meetings and deliveries to customers.
  16. Lead junior engineers.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Active TS//SCI with CI Polygraph.
  2. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
  3. Minimum of 12 years of software development, object-oriented design, and programming, including architecture design, coding, and testing experience.
  4. Experience with Web Services and JavaScript (e.g., ReactJS).
  5. Container-based application development experience.
  6. Must possess a DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve customer and company goals.
  9. Supervisory experience for a team of engineers.
  10. DevOps Engineer with over 10 years of experience in configuration control, testing, security, automation, containerization, orchestration, and cloud services open-source technologies.
  11. Hands-on experience with Java, C/C++, and/or Python.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  2. Experience with Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB.
  3. Experience with AWS and Azure.
  4. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes.
  5. Experience with Fortify, CodeDx, Trellix.
  6. Familiarity with Agile and/or DevSecOps procedures.
  7. Contractor Product Owner with over 10 years of experience in software management and managing a backlog of requirements.
  8. Experience with Neural Networks/Machine Learning.

Security Requirements: Must have an active TS-SCI with a current CI Polygraph.
