Senior Software Development Engineer

Business Environment

The Travel, Shopping and Reservation (TSR) entity develops products designed to serve multiple customer segments: providers (airlines, alliances, railway operators), distributors (travel agencies, online travel agencies, tour operators), and new intermediaries (meta-search). The market is innovative, with strong competition from online players (Google/ITA, Kayak, Expedia), competitors (Vayant, Sabre), and significant business model evolutions (NDC). The platform supporting these processes is of massive scale, with infrastructure (100,000+ cores computing transactions), operations (billions of transactions yearly), data (petabyte-scale datasets), and software (tens of millions of lines of code).

To serve TSR's purpose, the Pricing Integration & Orchestration (PIO) applications interact with Reservation, Ticketing, and Pricing Engine components. PIO ensures the correct price is recomputed before customer payment, maintaining pricing accuracy.

PIO department's expertise lies in flight tickets and additional services pricing, as well as aftersales flows (Amadeus Ticket Changer, Service Changer).

The department contributes to several SAFe Agile Release Trains, influencing the Airline IT and Travel Distribution business areas through projects like Offer Management System, Nevio, and Travel Platform, shaping the future of Amadeus.

Your Main Responsibilities

Common accountabilities:

• Have working experience and advanced knowledge in your discipline. Understand how your area contributes to the business. Act as a reference for less experienced colleagues and support juniors.
• Influence decisions related to your activity, anticipate dependencies and consequences in complex scenarios, contribute to transversal projects, propose process improvements, and be accountable for your and your team's commitments.
• Work independently within the plan set by your manager, seeking guidance on the most complex situations.

Specific accountabilities:

• Analyze specifications: Define user requirements for developing new or upgrading existing software solutions.

• Design systems and code: Design technical solutions, perform feasibility studies, propose viable solutions to Product Management or users for validation, develop software according to Amadeus standards (C++/Java), model, design, and implement databases.

• Test and maintain the software: Conduct unit, package, and performance tests, ensure quality standards, participate in product validation, and support debugging existing solutions in collaboration with Product Managers or Analysts.

• Document your work: Produce necessary software documentation and issue it to relevant departments.
