Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Firmware Security Engineer to join our security firmware team. You will act as the primary technical escalation point for SSD security firmware, guiding customers through configuration, validation, and secure firmware updates.

You will reproduce and analyze lab issues, debug firmware using traces and logs, and deliver root cause and corrective actions. Collaboration across firmware, product engineering, quality, and field applications is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer or electrical engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a customer-facing engineering role is strongly preferred.
• Embedded Security domain knowledge: cryptography, secure boot, and firmware update.
• Familiarity with storage security standards such as Opal/Enterprise SSC and NVMe security is a plus.
• Expertise in programming languages (C, C++, Rust); Python for test automation is a plus.
• Understanding of PCIe/NVMe/SAS storage interfaces.
• Experience with debugging firmware using debuggers, traces, and logs.
• Experience with defect tracking and firmware release processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to manage multiple escalations.

Responsibilities

• Customer engineering support as the primary technical escalation point for Security Firmware on SSD products.
• Guide customers through configuration, integration, and validation of security features (Opal, Pyrite/Ruby, SSC; secure boot).
• Reproduce and analyze failures in lab; analyze firmware logs and traces; deliver root cause actions.
• Develop, unit test, and validate firmware changes meeting security, functional, performance specs.
• Assess vulnerabilities and support mitigation planning and customer disclosure.
• Support audits, security questionnaires, and certification activities (TCG, FIPS, CC).
• Represent Micron in technical engagements and clearly communicate progress to teams.
