Description du poste

Brink Therapeutics is a venture-backed biotech company specializing in the development of cutting-edge gene therapy tools. We focus on site-specific recombinases, highly efficient enzymes that enable precise DNA modifications—such as inserting, removing, or inverting DNA sequences—without causing double-strand breaks. These recombinases offer a safer, more precise alternative to existing technologies like CRISPR-Cas9, with the potential to revolutionize Cell and Gene Therapies and make them more accessible.

Joining Brink Therapeutics means becoming one of our first team members and experiencing the excitement of building an ambitious company leveraging advanced Directed Evolution, deep gene-mining techniques, and AI to develop new treatments for cancers, autoimmune diseases, genetic disorders, and more.

We seek passionate scientists or engineers eager to solve challenging problems and improve patients’ lives worldwide. If this describes you, we invite you to help shape the future of medicine!

Mission Highlights

As a Senior Scientist in Computational Biology, you will innovate and develop computational pipelines to address diverse challenges, collaborating closely with Molecular Biology and AI teams. Your goal will be to support wet-lab efforts by generating high-utility recombinase candidates and creating large datasets for machine learning analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement processes for designing large, smart enzyme variant libraries
  • Create computational pipelines for analyzing NGS data from our in vitro recombinase Directed Evolution platform
  • Develop NGS-based readout methods for Directed Evolution assays
  • Mine public (meta)genomic datasets for discovering new gene variants and insights
  • Analyze human -omics datasets for therapeutic target discovery
  • Communicate project status, requirements, risks, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders
  • Maintain detailed documentation and present results effectively
  • Disclose innovations internally for IP protection
  • Mentor and coach junior team members

You should have broad bioinformatics expertise, strong software development skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to new domains. Organizational skills, clear documentation, and effective communication are essential. You should be a collaborative problem solver who enjoys working towards ambitious multidisciplinary goals.

Minimum Requirements
  • MSc with 5+ years or PhD with 2+ years in computational biology or related fields, with a passion for continuous learning
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in computational pipeline design and software development (Python, Github, AWS)
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Motivation to work in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in startup settings
  • Knowledge in Directed Evolution, gene library synthesis, NGS, genome editing, human genomics, enzymology, structural biology
Recruitment Process
  • Profile screening
  • Introductory call with CEO Jonathan Naccache
  • Technical interview with CTO Harry Kemble
  • Team fit interviews on-site
