Location: Europe (Flexible - travel required)

Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly skilled SCADA/DCS Commissioning Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in the deployment, commissioning, and optimisation of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and DCS (Distributed Control Systems) for large-scale industrial projects. The ideal candidate will be based in Europe, with flexibility to travel across various project sites as needed.

  1. Manage the commissioning activities for SCADA and DCS systems on industrial and energy projects, ensuring compliance with all technical, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Perform detailed system integration, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of SCADA/DCS hardware and software components.
  3. Oversee the installation, calibration, and startup of SCADA/DCS equipment, ensuring smooth integration with other automation and control systems.
  4. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop commissioning plans, timelines, and technical documentation.
  5. Provide expert technical support during the commissioning phase, resolving complex issues and ensuring that the system meets performance specifications.
  6. Develop and implement testing protocols, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  7. Support the development of control system graphics, alarm management, and control loop tuning.
  8. Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the commissioning phase, providing technical advice and resolving issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  9. Provide post-commissioning support, including troubleshooting, system optimisation, and maintenance recommendations.
Skills & Qualifications
  1. At least 5-8 years of hands-on experience in commissioning SCADA and DCS systems in industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  2. In-depth knowledge of SCADA and DCS architecture, design, and configuration, with proficiency in key platforms (e.g., Siemens Wincc, ABB MicroSCADA or DS Agile).
  3. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or a related field.
  4. Expertise in system integration, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of SCADA/DCS systems, as well as familiarity with PLCs, HMI, and field instrumentation.
  5. Ability to manage commissioning projects, coordinate teams, and ensure timely delivery of systems within budget and scope.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus).
  7. Willingness to travel to various sites across Europe as needed, including potential on-site stays for extended periods.
  8. Industry-specific certifications in automation, control systems, or SCADA/DCS technologies are highly desirable.
  9. Networking & Cybersecurity expertise.
  10. Protocols know-how: IEC61850, IEC -104, IEC -103, DNP3, Modbus.
