Job summary

Eutelsat Communications SA is seeking a skilled communication system engineer to define end-to-end architecture for the IRIS² European LEO system. You will collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to write requirements, perform trade studies, and maintain the technical baseline, ensuring the system meets operability and performance goals.

You will work with waveform design, air interfaces, and inter-satellite link definitions, contributing to CONOPS, interfaces, and IPT

Qualifications

• Experience in designing waveforms and optimizing waveform parameters.
• Knowledge of 3GPP waveform and 5G NTN releases.
• Background in end-to-end system architecture in a 3GPP-like system.
• Understanding Layer 2 (MAC, RLC, PDCP, SDAP, RRC) and RAN interfaces.
• Ability to take ownership of lab-based test setups for protocol adaptation.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools for assessing waveform performance, link budget and synchronization.
• Define physical layer protocols for air interfaces, feeder link and ISL; define waveform and assess performance.
• Contribute to user and feeder link waveforms and link budget with payload and ground teams.
• Contribute to inter-satellite link waveform and link budget with payload team.
• Define the functional composition of the whole communications system.
• Define processes for architectural decisions and changes.
• Own system level requirements and coordinate with subsystem leads.
• Maintain the technical baseline and lead Integrated Product Team initiatives.
• Define CONOPS to ensure clear functional flows.
• Maintain sub-system interface documentation and air interface requirements.
• Work with subsystem suppliers to ensure designs meet system needs.
