About the Role:

The Role: Senior Research Analyst, Fuels and Refining, CIS

The Team: Within the Fuels and Refining division, we analyze industry and market fundamentals related to refining crude oil and marketing refined products, including supply/demand balances, trade, prices, capacities, and infrastructure. We forecast product balances, benchmark refining margins, and provide market insights globally, with a team covering Africa and CIS, collaborating across S&P Global divisions.

The Impact: S&P Global Commodity Insights offers data, strategic research, and analysis across the oil downstream value chain, aiding clients in making informed decisions on market trends, company behaviors, and economic policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Produce analytical market reports on the downstream oil sector, including regulatory, taxation, supply/demand, infrastructure, and retail aspects.
  • Contribute to the CIS refined products outlook report, forecasting demand and supply for 24 months and identifying key market developments.
  • Lead data collection and database management, continuously seeking new sources and improving research tools.
  • Conduct topical research to inform clients about policies, trends, competitive landscape, and opportunities.
  • Analyze market developments through modeling and qualitative analysis to generate insights on market dynamics and long-term forecasts.
  • Interpret technical data, sharing insights with stakeholders internally and externally.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant energy industry experience, especially in Russian/CIS downstream oil sector.
  • Fluent in English and Russian; French skills are a plus.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Advanced Excel and MS Office proficiency.
  • Organized, responsible, able to meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Professional integrity with a collaborative mindset.
