Job summary

IFS is seeking a Senior Principal Platform Lead to shape the internal developer platform (IDP) strategy and drive adoption across NGA and IFS product teams. This hands-on IC role requires deep Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud-native expertise, with a focus on building usable developer experiences and scalable templates.

You will define golden paths, self-service scaffolding, and integration points, while communicating complex concepts in plain language to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in platform, infrastructure, or developer-tooling engineering.
• 3+ years in a senior/staff IC or technical lead role.
• Experience shipping developer platforms at enterprise scale.
• Hands-on infrastructure depth with Kubernetes, GitOps, IaC, CI/CD, and observability.
• Shipped golden paths, service templates, and CI/CD standardisation at scale.
• Strong ability to treat internal developers as customers and measure adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own the IDP vision, roadmap, and end-to-end execution at IFS, service catalogue, self-service scaffolding, golden paths, CI/CD integration, and developer portals.
• Own the developer experience vision for the Nexus platform from service creation to production observability.
• Collaborate with Kairos, Nexus, Auth, Base Tech, and product teams to deliver cohesive developer experiences.
• Define platform standards to make the right way the easy way and encourage adoption.
• Drive measurable adoption: onboarding time, self-service completion, platform NPS, time-to-first-deployment, DORA metrics.
• Integrate authentication and authorization services into the IDP self-service model.
• Partner with NGA product teams and IFS R&D to identify pain points and priorities.
• Coordinate with IAM, infrastructure, and SRE to ensure a coherent, reliable, secure surface for developers.
• Establish feedback loops, surveys, usage analytics, office hours, and act on them relentlessly.
• Influence platform strategy at the architectural level and represent the developer platform in leadership forums.
• Mentor Principal and Senior platform engineers to raise DX quality at IFS.
