Senior Piping Material Engineer

Petroplan is delighted to support our client, an international consulting company specializing in engineering, management, and industrial strategy, in their search for a Senior Piping Material Engineer based in Paris.

The candidate will align with Project Planning targets and work for a leading engineering company in the Oil & Gas and renewable energy sectors.

The ideal candidate will be able to develop data sheets for special items, specifications for inquiry and purchase orders, and supplier inspection test plans. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience as a piping material engineer in Oil & Gas and be proficient with software such as ASME, API, MSS, BS, and NACE standards. Autonomy and fluency in English are mandatory.

Responsibilities:
  1. Development of:
  • The summary of piping classes in collaboration with the Process department
  • The specifications of piping classes (job specification design and supply)
  • Data sheets for special items
  • Participation in piping material take-off, work instructions, and management of quantities evolution
  • Development of specifications for inquiry and purchase orders
  • Issuance of material requisitions for inquiry and purchases
  • Technical analysis of supplier offers, including development of technical bid tabulation, clarifications, and deviations from vendors
  • Development of supplier inspection test plans
  • Review of supplier documents after purchase order issuance
  • Short trips within France and abroad may be part of the mission.

    Requirements:
    • Minimum 10 years of experience as a piping material engineer in Oil & Gas
    • Solid knowledge of international codes, particularly ASME B31.3, and standards such as ASME, API, MSS, BS, and NACE
    • Experience with material management and coding tools, e.g., Intergraph Smart Materials
    • Autonomous, dynamic, and responsive personality
    • Good communication skills and ability to work easily in a multicultural environment
    • Strong analytical, synthesis, decision-making, and negotiation skills
    • Fluent in English; French language skills are desirable
