Job summary

Kennedy Jenks is seeking an experienced Pipeline Engineer for our California office to support water and wastewater pipeline projects. This role involves evaluation, design, and construction of conveyance facilities, with responsibilities across planning to construction and client service.

The position requires 10+ years in pipeline engineering, strong design and hydraulic analysis skills, and a California Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Master’s degree.
• Professional Engineer license in California within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydraulic and pipe design calculations for water and wastewater pipelines.
• Prepare designs, specifications, and drawings for complex pipeline projects, including alignment studies, hydraulic analyses, condition assessments, rehabilitation, new pipeline design, and in-service commissioning.
• Apply industry standards to guide pipeline design and installation.
• Provide construction-phase engineering support: review submittals, respond to RFIs, and ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Evaluate existing pipeline systems for asset management and recommend rehabilitation or replacement approaches.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support junior staff development, write technical reports, and maintain project documentation.
