constellr is hiring a Payload System Engineer to join the Mission and Space Systems team. You will work closely with engineers, operations, and partners to enhance current payloads and guide the future constellation development.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in optical payload design for space, strong Python capability, and excellent English communication. The role involves design, analysis, testing, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-moving space environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, physics, or related discipline.
• Proven ability to commit to project plans and deliver results on time.
• Strong written and spoken English with ability to communicate across teams.

Responsabilités

• Derive technical payload requirements from top-level specs.
• Perform trade-offs for efficient payload designs considering constraints.
• Co-design and co-develop payload with partners.
• Manage supplier reviews and implementation.
• Write and maintain payload requirements and interface docs.
• Define and maintain payload budgets (radiometry, image quality, data rate).
• Perform payload analysis and testing.
• Support mission analysis and system-level performance assessments with payload inputs.
• Support payload documentation for qualification/certification and verification.
