Job summary

SIMERA SENSE is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own the end-to-end engineering for space payload products, interfacing with customers from requirements to operation. The role leads cross-disciplinary teams across optical, mechanical, electronic, and software domains to deliver robust solutions for earth observation missions.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in space systems, plus fluent French and English, and a track record of delivering complex hardware from concept to delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering for space applications.
• 10+ years of demonstrated experience in earth observation payload/missions and image processing activities.
• A good understanding of bus performance needs derived from optical mission requirements.
• Strong technical expertise in systems engineering.
• Proven track record of leading complex hardware projects from concept to delivery.
• Experience with systems engineering tools and methodologies such as requirements management, system modelling, and simulation.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment across multiple geographic locations.

Responsibilities

• Direct product engineering ownership and customer technical interaction from initial User Requirements to operation of Simera Sense products.
• Lead technical interface to customers for assigned projects, supported by other engineers and product managers.
• Derive mission and payload requirements with verification techniques and flow down to development teams.
• Lead systems engineering effort for development projects with focus on France client base, from concept to delivery.
• Define system architecture and requirements based on customer needs and mission objectives.
• Collaborate with optical, mechanical, electronic, software and optical test engineers to meet requirements.
• Conduct system-level analysis, modelling, and simulation to validate design concepts.
• Lead integration and testing activities, including environmental testing and qualification.
• Ensure end-to-end model correlation for on-orbit systems for future development input.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Communicate project status, risks, and issues to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Drive continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and methodologies.
• Support business development activities for optical payload customers.
