Responsibilities:
  1. Lead a team focused on battery pack and cell technology in China, maintaining close communication with the US team.
  2. Drive the implementation of battery and cell strategies.
  3. Support design and development teams for consumer products from initial concept to mass production and ongoing support within our global organization.
  4. Review and manage documentation for new product development (NPD) and ongoing production.
  5. Collaborate with engineering and testing teams on designing and testing new battery packs and cells.
  6. Coordinate with pack and cell suppliers, OEM factories, and engineering teams to resolve battery pack issues and ensure successful mass production of battery-powered products.
  7. Regularly review supplier roadmaps and report to the supervised team for new product development.
  8. Conduct audits of pack and cell suppliers to ensure compliance with requirements.
  9. Lead failure analysis related to pack and cell issues in customer OEMs, identifying root causes and verifying corrective actions.
  10. Provide training to other teams on battery pack and cell technology.
  11. Lead and mentor engineers and technologists.
Attributes & Skills:
  • Experience in EE, ME, PE with battery pack/cell manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership skills to drive projects forward.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Focus on accurate documentation and version control.
  • Proven ability to innovate during engineering conceptualization, balancing manufacturability, cost, risk, and schedule.
  • Broad understanding of product development, especially related to embedded design, and experience delivering products on time.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, familiarity with tracking tools like JIRA, and revision control.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Minimum of 5 years R&D experience in battery thermal management, assembly process management, and battery pack design, including DOE.
  • Extensive experience in battery pack design and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA for battery packs.
Education / Certifications / Affiliations:
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of battery pack failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with mechanical parts of battery packs and battery management systems.
  • Understanding of compliance standards for battery packs.
Travel Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
