Abbeal SAS is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to design and implement the backend for regulated financial workflows in Paris. You will work with Java 21, Spring Boot 3.x, and daily AI coding agents to drive speed, consistency, and auditable processes in a banking environment.

You’ll build robust microservices, secure REST APIs, and scalable data pipelines while maintaining high standards for security, compliance, and observability in a hybrid Paris setup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Java in production
• Proficient with Spring Boot 3.x and modern Java features
• Experience with REST APIs, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA
• Familiar with observability tools and monitoring stacks
• Experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code / Codex)
• French + technical English; banking/insurance context is a plus

Responsabilités

• Design and deliver the backend layer for regulated financial workflows

A major corporate & investment bank in Paris is scaling its backend engineering. The goal: ship reliable, auditable, production-safe systems for regulated financial workflows — treating AI coding agents as a first-class tool, not a gimmick.

The context

You join a team that doesn't just write code: it engineers the harness around AI agents (Claude Code / Codex) that makes them reliable. Specs first, hooks, AGENTS.md, back-pressure loops, verification gates. A demanding banking environment: audit trail, data security, compliance.

The role

As a Senior Java Engineer, you design and deliver the backend layer of regulated financial workflows, using AI coding agents daily to move faster and ship better.

• Spring Boot 3.x microservices (Java 21: virtual threads, records, sealed classes)
• Robust REST APIs: Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, fine-grained transactions
• Harness engineering: AGENTS.md, pre-commit hooks, typecheck back-pressure, planner/evaluator splits
• Java MCP servers exposing internal APIs to the agents
• Observability (OpenTelemetry, ELK/Loki, Prometheus and Grafana) and Kubernetes deployment

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of Java in production (Java 17 min, Java 21 a plus)
• Spring Boot 3.x: auto-configuration, profiles, actuator, security, batch
• Modern Java: records, pattern matching, sealed classes, virtual threads
• You use Claude Code / Codex daily and think in specs before code
• Testing: JUnit 5, Testcontainers, Mockito, contract & mutation testing
• Banking / insurance background appreciated; French + technical English
