Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior HPC DevOps Engineer manages DevOps activities for one or more software products and supporting systems. This role requires advanced technical skills to solve complex issues, meet customer needs, and achieve development goals. The engineer will oversee operations in High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments, including customization, configuration, and troubleshooting of schedulers like SLURM, PBA, and LSF. The position demands expertise in traditional DevOps practices and HPC-specific workflows to ensure system robustness and efficiency for high-demand workloads.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain HPC systems for optimal performance and reliability.
• Customize, configure, and troubleshoot job schedulers such as SLURM, PBA, LSF, etc., to meet operational needs.
• Collaborate to resolve complex infrastructure, build, or packaging issues.
• Perform debugging and testing on code, processes, and deployments to streamline execution and reduce errors.
• Build and package open-source third-party software as needed.
• Maintain tools, infrastructure, and build environments for product creation teams.
• Conduct technical reviews to ensure best practices are followed and maintained.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• BSc in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years’ experience; MSc with 3 years’ experience.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in HPC deployment and configuration.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Thorough knowledge of software development tools, compilers, and packaging software.
• Extensive knowledge of Windows and/or Linux OS, cloud, and DevOps technologies like Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, Go, etc.
• Passion for creating robust, automated build systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and collaborate with distributed teams.
