Mercor seeks researchers to work on CritPt, a public benchmark of physics problems designed to test genuine physics research reasoning. You will focus on one of several subfields and compose complete write-ups with reasoning that another specialist can verify.

You should hold a PhD in gravitation, cosmology, astroparticle physics, or a closely related field, and have published on the specific phenomenon. Proficiency in LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter is required, with strong written English.

Qualifications

• PhD in gravitation, cosmology, astroparticle physics or closely related field.
• Three to five representative papers with arXiv IDs or DOIs, ideally from last five years.
• Command of numerical methods.
• Working proficiency with LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter.
• English at B2 or above.

• Engage in research-level physics problems in your subfield and produce complete, verifiable results.
• Match to one of the specified research areas and develop write-ups with rigorous reasoning.
