Job Overview :

Beicip-Franlab is a world-leading consulting company renowned for its technical excellence, providing services and software to help our customers understand the subsurface for challenges in Oil & Gas, CO2 storage, and geothermal energy. We are seeking a Senior Seismic Characterization Specialist to join our Reservoir Characterization team, bringing at least 15 years of industry experience in inversion and seismic characterization, along with technical expertise to lead impactful projects and engage in our international presence through publications, peer reviews, audits, and client interactions.

The Senior Seismic Characterization Consultant will lead integrated project teams, collaborating with geophysicists, geologists, and reservoir engineers. You will oversee seismic data analysis and reservoir property prediction using advanced workflows and Beicip-Franlab’s proprietary seismic solution, InterWell.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in seismic inversion, reservoir workflows, rock physics, and proven leadership. Skills in programming, geostatistics, seismic processing, and geomechanics are highly desirable.

This position is based at our headquarters in Paris, France, with opportunities for international travel.

Responsibilities :

Reporting to the Reservoir Characterization Team Leader, you will:

  1. Design and quality control seismic acquisition programs.
  2. Lead complex seismic inversion projects, including Petro-Elastic modeling, well-to-seismic calibration, and advanced inversion techniques.
  3. Develop workflows incorporating attribute analysis and machine learning, with uncertainty assessments.
  4. Conduct fluid substitution and pore pressure studies.
  5. Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring.
  6. Work within an integrated team (geophysicists, geologists, reservoir engineers).
  7. Manage client interactions and project presentations, ensuring satisfaction.
  8. Perform peer reviews and audits for technical excellence.
  9. Publish scientific papers and present at conferences.
  10. Support proposals and client relationships.

This role is ideal for an innovative geophysicist eager to contribute to energy development projects. Candidate profile :

  • MSc / PhD in Geophysics or related field.
  • At least 15 years of experience in seismic inversion and reservoir characterization in Oil & Gas or Energy Transition sectors.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.

  • Proactive and strategic thinker.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in French or Spanish is a plus.
