Your Team

To prepare for the company’s upcoming acceleration, a new team named “Platform & Services” has been created to support our transformation needs. This team provides Engineering services (such as Hardware, VM, Database, LB, Queuing, Orchestrator, etc.) to all product teams, enabling them to focus on delivering value to their products and customers.

As efficient startups now use PaaS solutions to create their products, our product teams will also leverage our internal platform to build high-end products. The Platform team is organized into “Engineering Verticals,” each delivering one or more infrastructure products in specific fields of Software Engineering. The team is responsible for securing, maintaining, and ensuring the smooth operation of these services.

About the job

Reporting to our Engineering Manager Julien Andrieux Mondo, your key mission will be to create, deliver, and maintain observability tools across our regions and availability zones. Your specific team, the “Platform - Observability” (a.k.a. PObs) vertical within “Platform & Services,” is responsible for selecting, deploying, and maintaining observability tools used by all product teams in each Scaleway region and AZ.

Qualifications include:

1. 5+ years of experience in software engineering, building applications with significant usage and volume
2. 5+ years of experience in systems observability, logs management, and monitoring at large scale
3. Proficiency in English
4. Excellent collaboration skills
5. Open-mindedness and adaptability
6. Result-oriented mindset
7. DevOps approach (CI / CD with QA)
8. Experience maintaining existing observability tools (metrics, logs, traces, etc.)
9. Building innovative infrastructure products and services based on latest technologies
10. Handling legacy migration tasks
11. Networking knowledge (TCP / IP / VLAN, BGP)
12. Tools & languages: Ansible, Python and/or Go, scripting (POSIX Shell / Bash), Docker, Consul, Fluentd / Fluentbit, Elasticsearch, storage (Ceph / Block & Object Storage), databases (SQL, PG, MySQL, Redis), data center automation (IPMI / iPXE / preseed or cloud-init)
