Harmattan AI in Paris is seeking a Software Engineer (4+ years) to own gimbal control and GNC software on custom hardware platforms with embedded Linux. You will collaborate with Software, GNC, Mechanical, Hardware, and Test Bench teams, conducting field test evaluations every few weeks.

The role focuses on developing real-time embedded software, integrating new sensors, and driving critical R&D from concept to realization in a fast-paced, rigorous environment.

Qualifications

• Strong academic foundation or proven track record in robotic/embedded systems.
• Embedded software development with C/C++, MCU, and embedded Linux with real-time constraints.
• Experience with low-level debugging and diagnostics in embedded environments.
• Solid robotics concepts: quaternions, matrices, attitude, pose, estimation.
• Familiarity with GNC frameworks and autopilot-like architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate large robotic codebases and maintainability.
• Able to balance desk coding with hands-on lab and field tests.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across cross-functional teams.

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and optimize embedded software for MCUs and embedded Linux where real-time execution is critical.
• Own gimbal control algorithms and lead GNC software framework initiatives.
• Develop PC tools and diagnostic utilities to analyze telemetry logs and calibration data.
• Lead flight test preparations, run lab experiments, and analyze post-flight telemetry.
• Define software architecture and rigorous protocols to ensure system integrity.
• Mentor junior engineers as the team grows.
