Harmattan AI in Paris seeks a Software Engineer (4+ years) to own gimbal control and GNC software on embedded hardware. You will work with Software, GNC, Mechanical, and Test teams to drive development from concept to field validation.

Responsibilities include firmware development on MCU/embedded Linux, gimbal control algorithms, and diagnostic tooling. Field tests and rigorous architecture work are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in embedded software development (C/C++, MCU, embedded Linux) with real-time constraints.
• Strong grasp of robotics concepts, linear algebra, and mathematics (quaternions, attitude, estimation).
• Familiarity with GNC frameworks and robotic architectures (autopilots for drones/vehicles).
• Proven ability to navigate large-scale robotic codebases and diagnose issues.
• Methodical, rigorous approach to diagnostics, calibration, and telemetry analysis.
• Adaptable, capable of balancing desk coding with lab and field test activities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across cross-functional teams (Hardware, Mechanics, GNC).

Responsabilités

• Software & Firmware Development: design and optimize embedded software on MCU and embedded Linux.
• Gimbal & GNC Ownership: own gimbal control algorithms and GNC framework.
• Diagnostics & Performance Tooling: build tools to analyze telemetry, calibration, and motor/IMU comms.
• Testing & Field Operations: lead flight test prep, lab experiments, post-flight analysis.
• System Architecture & Rigor: define protocols for peak system integrity and cross-team collaboration.
• Mentorship: guide junior engineers and grow the team.
