Senior Economic Risk Analyst (Research Fellow)

Policy by Murray is delighted to partner with the Overseas Development Institute, a global think tank that delivers high-quality, internationally recognized research to inform policy design and convene leadership on global challenges.

They are seeking a Senior Economic Risk Analyst to join their Global Risks and Resilience team. The role involves analyzing the nexus between emerging threats—such as climate change, pandemics, economic and financial instability, transnational criminal networks, terrorism, cyber disruptions, disinformation, geopolitical volatility, and conflict—to develop resilient policy responses.

The successful candidate will contribute to thought leadership, policy advice, and research on the economic impacts of various threats and shocks. This position suits individuals accustomed to working in busy environments and capable of producing analysis and research under tight deadlines.

Key Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable knowledge in at least two of the following areas: modeling and assessing economic impacts of intersecting threats (climate change, pandemics, conflict, geopolitical volatility); shock-resilient (global) value chains; Chinese outward trade and investment analysis.
  • Extensive experience working in developing countries (particularly in Indo-Pacific, Central Asia, Middle East), collaborating with government actors and/or international institutions on socio-economic development and economic shock risk management.
  • Proven ability to translate research ideas into fundable projects related to risk management and economic planning.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write clearly for diverse audiences.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally frequently, including overnight stays and weekends.
