Exyte, a global design and engineering firm, seeks a Senior Design Manager to guide the project design team (engineers and BIM designers) to deliver designs on time and to high standards while complying with health and safety requirements.

You will act as the senior design authority for clients, lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage resources and risks, and collaborate across interfaces to support commercial success. Fluency in English and French is required.

• Senior engineer with chartered status and >15 years in design/construction.
• Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams under tight schedules.
• Strong commercial awareness and risk management skills.
• Fluency in English and French (min. B2).

Responsabilités

• Provide end-to-end leadership for project design delivery in line with project plans.
• Act as senior design authority for clients and stakeholders.
• Lead design teams and external consultants with effective resourcing and performance management.
• Govern change control, risk management, and design assurance processes.
• Oversee design progress, cost forecasting, and reporting to leadership.
• Support tendering and procurement activities with design documentation and evaluations.

As a senior member of the project management team, the Senior Design Manager is responsible for guiding and directing the project design team (engineers and BIM designers) to achieve the project’s overall objectives. They ensure that designs are delivered on time to the highest technical standards, using the most commercially effective solutions, while complying with Health and Safety legislation throughout the design process and maintaining production efficiency within the project design team.

• Provide end-to-end leadership and technical accountability for project design delivery in accordance with the Project and Engineering Execution Plans, ensuring alignment with commercial, schedule, quality and HSE objectives
• Act as the senior design authority and single point of contact for clients and key stakeholders, effectively managing expectations and supporting strategic project decisions
• Lead, inspire and align multi-disciplinary design teams and external consultants, ensuring appropriate resourcing, performance management and integrated delivery
• Govern change control, risk management and design assurance processes, ensuring adherence to the Basis of Design and contractual requirements
• Oversee design progress, cost control and forecasting, delivering clear, concise reporting and insights to project leadership and executive management
• Support tendering and procurement activities, including consultant selection, design documentation, bid evaluation and continuous improvement through lessons learned

Show your expertise

• Professional/Chartered Engineer with extensive senior-level experience (+15 years) in design, construction and multidisciplinary project delivery within regulated environments
• Proven leader with strong organisational and people management skills, able to plan, prioritise and deliver under pressure
• Solid commercial and project understanding, including programme, cost, resources, contracting strategies and risk awareness
• Strong technical competence across BIM/CAD and coordination tools, with experience in clash detection and integrated design management
• Confident communicator and influencer with a collaborative mindset and the ability to build effective client and stakeholder relationships
• Fluency in English and French (Min. B2)
