The Senior Buyer – Construction is responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and contract management of all purchasing aspects related to data center construction—including civil works, building, critical equipment, and intellectual services. Reporting to the Group Procurement Manager, you will drive timely, cost-effective procurement that aligns with project objectives and the group’s strategic and environmental goals.
The role will typically include:
- Negotiate and manage supplier contracts and framework agreements with strategic suppliers to secure top-quality materials and services, mitigate risks, ensure compliance with corporate governance, and enhance the resilience of our value chain.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams across multiple countries to optimize project outcomes through proactive engagement.
- Drive sustainability across the supply chain by integrating CSR and ethical practices into all procurement processes and decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Define and implement procurement strategies for categories such as civil and construction works, equipment, and intellectual services, aligned with the group’s procurement strategy and objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to diversify and strengthen the network.
- Conduct market intelligence to anticipate trends and mitigate risks.
- Leverage opportunities for procurement synergies across European construction projects.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers, monitor their performance, and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Tendering and Contract Negotiation
- Lead RFx processes and tenders in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Negotiate advantageous contracts with legal and business stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legal and corporate standards.
- Manage contracts and monitor supplier performance for continuous improvement.
- Budget Management and Cost Control
- Monitor procurement budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Provide financial reports and maintain accurate procurement records.
- Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Procurement, Engineering, or Project Management.
- At least 5 years of relevant procurement experience, with knowledge of data center and construction industries.
- Proven track record of cost savings and managing international tenders.
- Experience with contractual frameworks such as FIDIC, NEC, or similar.
- Strong analytical skills, including cost analysis and risk management.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and compliance awareness.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Fluent in English and French.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel to supplier locations and construction sites across Europe.
- Hybrid working model: 3 days in the office (Marcoussis) or 2 days in Marcoussis & 1 day in Paris, plus 2 days remote.
