Key job responsibilities

You will be responsible for driving the long-term technical roadmap of Consolidation, also referred to as Units per Box (UPB). Our vision is to offer a best-in-class shopping experience that meets customer needs for receiving items together in one convenient delivery. The role requires a deep understanding of customer needs and thinking big about how we can make the customer experience seamless and delightful.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will enable the creation of products that drive greater automation, scalability, and optimization of every aspect of consolidation, lowering costs and delivering speed of execution for our customers. You will also identify opportunities and implement changes to improve network performance, simplify processes, and leverage existing resources.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and develop tools to automate standardized processes and optimize trade-offs across the full decision space.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external partner teams to enrich our collection of data.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of large-scale data solutions that impact our strategic planning in the mid- and long-term.
  • Analyze historical data to identify trends and support decision-making.
  • Identify and tackle complex problems, delivering artifacts that set the standard in your organization for business intelligence excellence, from designs to data models to implementations.
  • Improve existing methodologies by developing new data sources or architecture enhancements.
  • Participate in design reviews, aligning teams toward coherent architectural strategies.
  • Conduct presentations to share insights and recommendations to audiences of varying technical levels.
  • Collaborate across teams to have a cross-team impact.
  • Research and benchmark our technology against industry competitors.
  • Mentor junior colleagues on trends, technologies, and best practices.

Global transportation analytical teams are centers of expertise, comprising engineers, analysts, scientists, technical program managers, and developers. We focus on Amazon’s most complex problems, processes, and decisions, working with fulfillment centers, transportation, software developers, finance, and retail teams worldwide to enhance logistics infrastructure and algorithms.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience programming to extract, transform, and clean large (multi-TB) data sets.
  • Experience with design of experiments and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with AWS technologies.
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g., Python) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience with data science, machine learning, and data mining.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate data insights into business needs.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Quicksight.
  • Experience in the data/BI space.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience managing, analyzing, and communicating results to senior leadership.
